Safeguarding the future
of power and energy
Companies, countries and organizations around the world have committed to an energy transition that’s sustainable, safe and secure. Battery energy storage systems (BESS) are one of the most important components of that sustainable future. Without them, sustainable energy infrastructures and applications simply don’t work.
Enter Lightergy
Lightergy is a North American-based BESS company that’s changing the economics of electrification and safeguarding the future of power and energy. Since 2007, our advances in energy storage systems have been proven to transform the efficiency, cost, security and safety of energy for generations to come.
In conjunction with our wholly-owned manufacturer, Lightening Grid Québec (LGQ), Lightergy deploys advanced LFP-based technologies that enable sustainable energy infrastructures at a fraction of the cost of alternatives, across a wide array of residential, commercial, industrial, and utility-scale applications. Ultimately, we help organizations of all kinds accelerate their energy transition for themselves and the communities they serve.
The Lightergy difference
No matter what kind of organization you are, or what kind of BESS-enabled application you’re exploring, Lightergy offers a distinct set of advantages:
Lowest-known capex in the world, less than $50M USD per gigawatt hour
Military-grade solution proven to work in even the most demanding conditions
100% North American supply chain and enhanced energy independence
Simplified assembly and disassembly, for unmatched ease of service and battery pack costs savings of up to 40%
Advanced LFP-based BESS technology, which yields the best performance across multiple vectors*
*Maximal thermal and electrical performance, maximal life span/usability, maximal rate performance, enhanced reliability and safety
Breaking down barriers:
Price, performance, and complexity
The challenge is that most BESS systems are fundamentally inefficient in terms of cost and performance. They often involve complex processes, supply chains and components that introduce significant risks to the security, safety and reliability of the sustainable energy infrastructures they support. For too long, these barriers have impeded the emergence of a truly sustainable energy future.
And that’s where Lightergy comes in.
One technology, multiple applications
These advantages, and others, make Lightergy’s BESS solutions the optimal choice for multiple applications across a variety of sectors:
Sustainable enterprises
Energy infrastructure companies and utilities
Transportation and mobility companies
Next-gen AI and cloud data centers
And many more.
Our technology
Lightergy’s systems are highly scalable for battery energy storage systems, spanning from home-scale units of single kilowatt hours (kWhs) up to large grid-scale applications of multiple megawatt hours (MWhs). These advanced systems perform with long cycle life (10,000 – 20,000 cycles), superior rate (charging in up to 3-5 minutes), excellent power and energy, and unmatched field serviceability and expandability.
Lightergy systems also are safe, secure and enable virtual networking and optimal space utilization. Lightergy’s production processes reduce the capital costs of manufacturing by up to 50%. They also support customers and markets seeking to combine superior performance, economics, and versatility.
Our history
Lightergy was originally founded in 2002 as Compact Power Inc. (dba Lightening Energy). The company began its collaboration with the U.S. Department of Defense in 2007, focusing on innovations such as providing near-instantaneous charging and discharging, which enables ultra-rapid recharging.
Lightergy also has continued to develop advances in LFP-based BESS technology, producing numerous systems and applications, including multiple collaborative programs with Hydro Quebec since 2007. Today, the company specializes in products that prioritize performance, safety, security, and reliability in even the most demanding operating environments.
And we’re just getting started.
